About Me
My name is Alex
Harvey and I have loved animals as long as I can remember. I believe that dogs are
one of the greatest animals in the world and my life would not be complete
without my faithful companions by my side. It is my dream that the whole world
can share in my love for these fantastic creatures. Breeding and improving my breed is the ideal
way to getting closer to achieving this goal.
Dogs have always surrounded me, currently I work at a boarding kennel/dog groomer. This is my perfect job, I love every second of it! I have also volunteered at the RSPCA animal shelter in Pearcedale.
Currently
in my short working life of 3 1/2 - 4 years I have worked at the following
animal related places.
1 RSPCA (volunteer in the busy Christmas period)
2 Groomers (sick leave replacement and current)
1 Vet (locum)
1 Boarding kennel (current)
I love my dogs and am always taking them out to shows, the beach, training, friends houses and walks and trying to promote the breeds. I am very social when it comes to the dogs and love to organise days out and play dates with other dog owner friends and puppy buyers. Currently my 2 closest babies Rokki and Ruma come everywhere with me and are now regulars at work.
My dogs love people, showing at shows
illustrates what can be achieved with regular grooming, socialisation and obedience. I love
going to dog shows and taking photos of my other breeder friends competing in
the ring with their dogs
and having them judged. On the odd occasion that I am able to show my own dogs bringing home the ribbons is the best feeling in
the world not only for me but you can see the sparkle in the dogs eyes! When I
take the dogs out about town people stop us and ask about the breed and comment
on their look and personalities I am so proud that my dogs are so approachable
and just love all the attention (Hunter is the biggest show off and loves all
the girls giving him a cuddle!). I don't want ANY breed to get a bad name by a
untrained dog of that breed so at least the first 12mths of obedience and social training is a MUST for me!
My first experience at breeding was at the young age of 11, when my grandparent's (who lived next door to me) Australian champion red staffy had her first litter *and what a litter of 9 pups. I loved helping them raise the pups and playing with them, as a young child this was the greatest. I guess you could say that hooked me on getting involved in breeding!
I breed Shepherds and Mini Foxies because I love both breeds. We have had these breeds all my life. They are wonderful, smart pooches.
I don't believe the world revolves around them and if some one came to me saying they didn't like the breed I would let them have their own opinion and not think less of them. All I ask is that people don't judge my dogs by their past experiences with the breed or similar with one 'bad dog' or what they have heard about the breeds, I know my dogs and dogs I have bred so I am able to comment on them, but not other dogs. I take a great passion into breed improvement and believe I am improving on each litter I produce so I think I am going well with my goal.
